Ricoh 500G

I love these cameras! They are so capable, so easy to use and just the right size for a all day carry around camera. The lens is very clear and very sharp, pundits will get sniffy as to where it was built and if one versions lens is better than another, I think there is a lot of collector BS going around to up prices.

The camera is easy to pop in your pocket, I’m not ashamed to say I wear cargo shorts when out and about! The camera has a great lens that gives great results. I first saw them when I was 16 years old and an apprentice, at the time I opted for a Fujica ST650n kit. I had gone for SLR instead of rangefinder. It would be many years before I got to use a rangefinder and discover their magic.

Some years back I travelled Europe/USA with my Dad as his carer so he could have a much dreamed of trip. I had put a Nikon FM kit together as my travel kit as I didn’t want to risk my pro kit. Having the Ricoh in my pocket as the utility camera to the FM was just so neat. If I had B&W in the FM I would make sure the Ricoh had transparency film in it. This was a fantastic set up to travel with

This roll of film was shot while I was working out at Bristol as a key worker, I knew my shooting time was limited as it was winter. It was shot during my lunch and then when I had finished for the day. There were so many subjects to shoot. If you know this area of Bristol you will know I did not have to walk very far to get them.

I really enjoyed this this session.
