March 5th – March 11th

Well a week of reduced opportunities through sick colleagues at work and constant rain this week, however chin up and on with it.

I decided I needed to expand my horizons, rain or shine, so I can become a little more familiar with the area, it means I am pounding the pavement and racking up the walking miles, so thats got to be a good thing.

A week with a mixed bag of outcomes, this I like, keeps me on my toes.

Enjoy

cheers

Ken

Mar 5th:

I headed straight to Baker St station today to weave through some of the streets I haven’t seen for a while other than in the evening.I do like this contrast of new and old, I will head back soon to see what it looks like in the evening.

Mar 6th:

Oxford St station this morning, then walked the length of Great Portland Rd. A few interesting things but the light was very overcast and flat so not very inspiring. This motel caught my imagination. In a city that has fan fare, branding and advertising everywhere, this motel lacked any of that.

I think it is a secret headquarters for James Bond and friends.

Mar 7th:

Really tough day. The rain was relentless and the wind discouraging. Went out to get lunch and things where no better. I finished work late thinking I may just have to do some shots in the Tube station.

Well the rain had almost cleared so I retraced my steps along Great Portland Rd. from the day before and VIOLA! Most probably one of my favs all year so far. All Souls Church.

So more in the also rans at the bottom.

Mar 8th:

Heavy fog, but not enough to envoke Bill Brandt. So I thought I would try later in the day.
I don’t normally do cute, but this was too golden an opportunity to pass up.

Mar 9th:

On the way to the National Portrait Gallery to see the Man Ray exhibition this is across the road from Charing Cross station.

Just one of those surreal moments.

Mar 10th:

Another day spent on the VStrom winter work program. I spotted this place while on the bus last week. It is a gate house to Milford estate – Google map co-ords = 51.150662,-0.670393

I can’t tell you how cold it was taking this photo. I really tried hard to focus on the image and composition, but it was a bit of struggle

Mar 11th:

Well it sure was a shocker getting out at Bond St this morning, there was snow in the air and a wind right behind it. I saw the flags and with the woman underneath and thought this really describes the day.

Neatest most correct entry:

An almost made it shot, there are lots of these back streets called “mews” which are all very interesting but hard to photographed, however I may be onto something!

Caught this one on the way home, they are re-doing the station at London Bridge and the roof is off while they fit a new one. This building is like the BT tower, it looms over everything in the south London area. I would have gone for it for the Monday image but I thought I had enough buildings for this week.

The difference interesting lighting makes:

Hey Ken. Despite rain, wind and fog, you captured some great images this week. I hope to see the Man Ray exhibit someday.

Thank you Darla, it was an exhibition well worth seeing. I took your advice on the 8th Mar and just had some fun.

    Hi Ken,
Great to see the pic of Milford. We pass this every time we go up/down to Selsey.

    Thanks Clive

Its a lovely road, I can't wait for a bit of spring to hit the area and I will drop by there again to see it in brighter light and more colour, beautiful area.

I may see if there is a residency available in that place!!

    cheers

    Ken
