January 1st to January 7th

So welcome to my photo-a-day blog! A challenge set by one of my favourite photographers in Australia, Benjamin Liew, my goal is to take a photo a day no matter what. Ben suggest make a comment each day as well so it becomes a bit of a diary

Some days will be good, some will be rubbish, currently I get 20 mins of morning light before I start, in the evenings it is dark by 4pm. I am catching the earlier train to work to give me half a chance at doing some photos.

Most will be of my stroll to and from work over the year and will reflect the immediacy of the moment. I am trying to “Edit in the Camera” so most of what you see will have the obligatory post prod levels, sharpening and colour done but very little or no cropping.

Please enjoy.

Cheers

Ken

Jan 1st:

A late night so a sleep in, woke up and peered through the curtain and the sun was shining! So all hands on deck and we made it over to the train in 50mins flat. Then we caught a river runner from London Bridge, so then in the meantime we arrived at Greenwich to go and see the Ansel Adams exhibition.

Greenwich was crowded so by the time we finished lunch it was too late to see the exhibition. We however enjoyed a lovely stroll around the area before making our way home.

This is the Cutty Sark through the trees that border the Navy museum

Jan 2nd:

Had a lazy day inside due to the nasty weather. Mostly read and looked at what it would take to ride our Motorbikes to the Black sea then circumnavigate it. Later in the evening we caught up with Jim and Deb our good friends from Houston, Texas. The only photo I took was one of them for the family album, Deb had a bad cold and coughed just as I took this photo, funny as really.

Jan 3rd:

I have the plague. Take me now.

Jan 4th:

Got cabin fever so we wandered into town to find a burger and do some errands. Ended up with a plate of pasta and got errands done, nice stroll back through Piccadilly circus in the evening. All the lovely pink light is not a beautiful sunset, it is the reflected light of the big neon sign there.

The photo is looking west up Regent St.

Jan 5th:

Continued work on re-sealing my RB67 camera backs and the rotating plate. Slow meticulous work but all I can handle at the moment, bloody head cold. Wandered down the street to get some lunch and fresh air for a while, hit the Northcote road market and said hello to a few stall holders we know.

This guy has his open air bicycle repair and service stall here once a week and in the last year has had to take on 2 other mechanics to handle the work load.

Jan 6th:

Hit the de-seal/re-seal job hard and got the back finished and almost the rotating back, my left eye wouldn’t stop twitching so I had to give it away for the day. I think I have taken so much caffeine based medicine that I have speed shivers.

Jan 7th:

Back to work today. Maybe if I am lucky aliens will abduct me and force me to traverse the whole planet on my motorbike. This is Bond St. tube station the Oxford St. entrance.

Neatess most correct entry: some that nearly made the cut

Seen on the same stroll down Northcote road, cropped and satuated a bit for mess around value.

This alley is over the road from Bond St tube entrance

Thanks for looking, see you next week.
