Well last week was a “cracking” week as the locals would declare. I was happy to be able to get some shots no matter what the conditions. This week I have a day off on friday as we are going to the south coast for a “Flimwasters” event, so that should bring in a piccie or two, sadly none shot on film as my current turn around is too slow for the blog
Later in the year when I am set up a little better to turn around film images I will have a shot at putting some on here.
Enjoy
Cheers
Ken
February 5th:
Some days a diamond some days its coal, sang someone once, today I feel was a diamond day. Stepped out onto Oxford St and headed west with the intention of going down a block or two. I hadn’t gone 10 steps when I saw this shot. I have walked down St Christopher’s Pl so often lately but never walked past it on the opposite side of the road.
It goes to show no matter how well you know your subject, it can still have a surprise or two up its sleeve.
February 6th:
Today was a day of time luxury. All the consultants are away this weekend so they are all in today to get their lists done (means me getting friday off). So I am starting an hour later than normal. Instead of sleeping in I left at normal time thus giving me an extra hour to stroll around early morning London.
So great new subjects and angles to get them from, although there was a lack of new coffee shops to investigate, this could challenge my creativity a whole lot.
I was moved how the rain made it look like the face was crying. Which is not uncommon here in England when it rains.
February 7th:
I think I have slagged of Southern Rail enough this year …………. No, what was I thinking about letting those morons off the hook, you guessed it late train, late to London Bridge, late to central London. The silver lining was a bright sunny morning! Then no matter where I looked there didn’t seem to be anything leaping out at me.
I tried a few things which really didn’t fire me up, so I thought, best get to work and try at lunchtime. Well just as I got near work was this bit of fun in a shop window, they were trying to do the new display, I thought they were trying to do the Village Peoples “YMCA” dance.
February 8th:
A day rare day off, so we headed to the coast for a this Filmwasters event. We rode our motorbikes down to Sandgate hotel, the very Sandgate hotel that appeared in one of the early Gordon Ramsay “Kitchen Nightmares” the stay was comfy, the bikes were safe, brekkie was nice, but when it came to dinner, they need Gordon back for another session.
This is the beach straight across the road. This is big grain sand, south of the equator we call them pebbles 😉
February 9th:
Well rise and shine, quick brekkie and onto the bike and 40 mins ride to Dungerness. Whipped out the Mamiya RB67 and started shooting. I have been shooting small format digital a lot lately so it took me time to get my head back into the RB, which I new it would, however I took a roll then we went for a cup of tea (we were with English types)
Some more shooting around at this sound shell which was a system they used before radar to listen for enemy aircraft coming over the channel, all very boys only adventure stuff.
We lunched at the local pub, then headed back and met our good friends Clive and Noleen who had ridden over from Selsy to stay the night and got out to dinner.
Filmwaster event results from members (mine will take a while sorry)
February 10th:
Well let it not be said that the English weather can’t hold off soggy and grey for too long. Our ride back to London was absolutely sodden. Clive, Noleen, Kristina and I stopped at Robertsbridge for some tea and food. Everything was so wet I didn’t chance getting the camera out.
Well sometimes one must wait for an opportunity to get their photo of the day, I think this photo gives a hint to the day.
February 11th:
Carrying on with the theme of being patient and ready. The walk to walk this morning was in the snow/sleet, very depressing. Mondays is busy so I try to nail a shot on the way to work knowing lunchtime can sometimes not materialise. Then viola! People here in London put any odd object obviously dropped onto the nearest railing so the owner can find it easier, okay maybe not £10 notes sort of thing, but gloves, umbrellas, panties ……….
Neatest most correct entry:
A lot this week, all along the lines of “Don’t give up and be ready”
This is a church, nothing unusual
This is a building once again nothing unusual
Look a little closer and viola! An Architect with an eye for detail!
I love it.
For those who are reading this to pick up pointers, this statue of the Madonna with the holy child, see a lot of it around, does not look unusual, lots of art, modern and traditional
Then we place it in perspective and find its a bloody awesome bit of sculpture
This is some random stuff:
We talk about the British love for red tape and process especially “Health and Safety” and “Risk assessment”. Would you believe the workers in the image of this building are only really cleaning the windows!!
For all those who can’t sleep from wondering about what that window display ended up looking like
Thanks for looking, see you all next week.
I've got 2 stand out favourites out of these ones. Won't tell you which ones until I see ya, but there's some excellent stuff in here as always.
Thanks mates, look forward to seeing you both soon.
Feb 5th and Feb 8th in answer to the other day… 🙂
Thanks Damo, cheers for that.
