April 23rd to April 29th

A week where the sun tried to show who is boss and won a round or two but ultimately lost the battle – I must be in England! One doesn’t come here for the weather, one comes here for the action!

I did enjoy the longer hours of sunlight in the evenings though, makes getting some pics a little less stressful and time restrictive.

Some evenings where a complete delight to be out photographing.

Enjoy

cheers

Apr 23:

I was a bit frustrated trying to get a shot of some tulips, I only carry a 135mm lens and really needed the 200mm.

So leaving a bit frustrated I walked south to try and find something along the way. I have most probably looked at this view a hundred times but never with sun on it!

Apr 24:

The tulips from yesterday. It is a locked private garden but the 200mm made short work of that.

Apr 25:

Is ANZAC day so we celebrate by attending dawn service. In London the service is held at either the Australian memorial or the New Zealand memorial on alternate years near the Wellington Arch. This is near Hyde park corner.

Mat, Damo, Erin and her mate all go there, it was the Aussie’s turn this year, then we wandered over to the Kiwi one for a wreath laying ceremony.

Apr 26:

A day off to go down south to Haselmere to my friend Paul’s place and finish the work on the motorbike.

There is a creek running past the front which then forms this pond, very nice in the afternoon light.

Apr 27:

Clare the bicycle racer and Paul’s sister was supposed to be cleaning and servicing her bike, Ruby the cat decided that Clare needed to spend time as a cat lady.

Apr 28:

Well after a bunch of freezing weekends in Pauls garage being dry docked the bike is back on the road and I couldn’t be happier.

Overhauled the brake calipers, put on some stainless steel braided brak lines on, progressive rate fork springs, new fork oil and fitted the rear suspension unit with the progressive rate spring installed.

Paul used his excellence skills in elec-trickery to help sort out a bunch of little nasties that were waiting to become a huge problem later.

There are still things to be done some other time, however I love this overhaul!

Some days this commitment to photography can be challenging, I took this photo as memory for me because I reallly like these old pub signs which sadly are starting to become fewer and fewer here. This ended up being the only photo I took today, so goes to show you should never not take the shot now, later never happens.

Neatest most correct entry:

A flower from Monday, decided to not have flowers everyday this week, so into second place, beautiful though.

The New Zealanders put on a Haka

There are three Australians, a Britisher and a New Zealander in this photo watching the Haka, you work out which.

Saturday night ales after working on the bike all day

This week is “Fools on parade”:

Clare the bicycle racer and cat lady was kind enough to become a motorcyle photographer to get some shots of some fools on VStroms Paul in red, me in blue.

The red ones are slower than the blue ones.
