Rollei 35

This is just a case of pure curiosity. I have never shot a mini full frame camera and I was standing looking at this one, it had the right number on the price tag, so I thought why the hell not.

I have not used it as much as other film cameras as it is 35mm and I tend to shoot 120 format if using film. It defiantly takes a level of learning its quirks before taking it out on the street for a stroll

I am using this project to cure me of this bias. I have got the lightmeter working and have practice using the running gear on it. Once you learn its way of operation it becomes quite and easy choice to reach for

Some general information

  • Does it have an industry nickname – it seems not
  • Why was it the darling of the camera scene – it was tiny yet full frame 35mm
  • Pigeon hole it sits in – compact full featured camera
  • Special feature – collapsible lens
  • Lightmeter – built in but not viewable through the eye piece

What is my connection to the camera?

  • Why did it catch my interest -these full frame miniatures always looked awesome and cool
  • How did I acquire it – the venerable annual camera fair
  • What uses have I put it to – occasional stroll around camera
  • Why this particular unit – it was the runt of the litter, it was in good usable shape, however because of a few sins the collectors were sniffy towards it and so the stall holder put a number on the price tag to attract tyre kickers like myself
  • Unique things I discovered – the light meter is very good

Where does it sit in my level of obsession – I really like having it around, but I need to commit some obsession towards it
